MEDIA SERVICES
Hours of operation: Days school is in session - 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Books are checked out for two weeks. Copies and printing from computers - $.10 a page.
Limited number of school supplies offered for purchase.
The Library/Media Center is staffed by Mrs. Harbour, the media specialist, and Mrs. Barnette , the media aide.
Atriuum Catalog/Circulation System is used to help manage the book and audio visual materials collection.
Channel One News is made available to students in the commons area in the mornings.
Library/media center orientation is provided to ninth grade students. Classes on research procedures are scheduled. Individual students finding materials and working on computers are given help when it it requested by the student. Classes for research and to check out books are scheduled by co-ordinating with teachers. The computer lab is scheduled and supervised through the Library/ Media Center. Individual students with their teachers' permission are encouraged to use the materials and services of the Library/Media Center.
Students are also encouraged to use the Alabama Virtual Library database for research. Access to the AVL is available at any computer that is in the state of Alabama with internet access. The site
address is www.avl.lib.al.us. What is Available?The EHS Media Center has over 9,000 books, including an excellent reference section and career collection. We store over 700 cataloged videos, DVDs, and books on tape or CD that co-ordinate with the curriculum. (Search the collection at http://ecsk12al.booksys.net/opac/eufauhs/#menuHome.)
In addition, our center houses close to 3,000 books to check out to students in English classes for required reading and subscribes to over 20 magazines and 3 newspapers for student and faculty use. Maintains 7 computers with internet connections for use by students who have turned in their internet permission forms.
Houses and maintains equipment for classroom use as well as the laminator for faculty use.
